Riss is a fresh artist to the alternative pop scene. She’s currently finishing her self-titled debut EP with friend and music producer, Jeremy Robinson. One of the tracks was engineered and mastered by Pete Lyman (Weezer, Courtney Love, Banks, Halsey). The first single is set to be released worldwide spring/summer 2017.
From humble beginnings in Bakersfield, California, Riss began her musical journey as a self-declared pop star at age 3. She was raised in a world of color and imagination (crafted by her mother) providing her with a foundation for endless possibilities. Her musical influences include Jewel, Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani, Lana Del Rey and Avril Lavigne. Riss’ first public performance was in 1999 to a captive audience just before “nap time” at her elementary school on “All About Me” day. By age 10 she began to take vocal lessons and dreams of moving to the big city of Los Angeles set in.
Those dreams came to fruition right after High School graduation when she moved completely on her own to LA. To build her fan base, Riss started performing at Karaoke nights and talent shows. Soon afterward she joined the Los Angeles Songwriter’s Collective where she was coached by an amazing team of songwriters and musicians. While there she enjoyed guest appearances by Christina Perri, David Hodges, and Wayne G. Miller.
One of the highlights of her time in LA was being invited to the Indie Artist Forum where she received helpful tips from Bonnie McKee and was graced by the presence of Peter Asher, who shared some of Paul McCartney’s original lyric sheets. Currently Riss is living in San Diego, CA and commuting to Los Angeles for studio sessions.
